    Billan is a noun derived from the word bil or billid a verb in the Somali language which
    means, to reach down and lift up - above oneself.       

    Mission
    The mission of Billan American Community Development Inc. is to organize,
    empower and unify the voices of the Somali Women in USA, to take lead spreading
    the peace among the Somali Women and Youth in America and in Somalia by
    restoring the Somali Traditional Culture Leadership.


    Brief history

    Billan American Community Development, Inc.’s Founders are Somali American, who
    have great appreciation for the American people and the Government for providing
    opportunities to live and prosper in America.  Billan American Community
    Development, Inc.’s Founders are civil war survivors, who came into the USA with
    nothing except faith and value.  Billan American Community Development, Inc.'s
    founders believe that respect and love are the best ways to transform Somalia from
    anarchy to a peaceful democratic society. Billan American Community Development,
    Inc. will use “Community Development programs, social services and Somali Traditional
    values” to transform the Somali nation.
